Meet The Team

Dr. Kurt Weber (Founder)

Growing up in upstate New York, Dr. Weber knew at a very young age he wanted to be a veterinarian. After graduating from Amherst College, he attended the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine, where he received his DVM in 1992. He then completed a year internship in large animal medicine and surgery at the University of Prince Edward Island, Canada. For the next 10 years, Dr. Weber worked in Maine as an associate veterinarian in mixed, mostly equine practice. In 2010, Dr. Weber and his wife, Karin, and their three young kids, settled in Andover, NH, where Dr. Weber launched Ragged Mountain Equine Veterinary Services, a practice devoted to equine dentistry and chiropractic.

He’s often asked, “Why dentistry?” a question he answers by crediting the veterinarians who were his first employers and mentors, whose commitment to investing in advanced equipment and continuing education inspired him to pursue better dentistry. The old model of fighting with an unsedated horse, and floating teeth blindly, without looking in the horse’s mouth, was not good enough. “When you have the right equipment and take the time to look, the horse’s mouth is a fascinating place to explore, and often full of surprises,” explains Dr. Weber, “I love that I can help these horses.”

As for chiropractic, Dr. Weber again goes back to his early practice days in Maine. As a veterinarian at an equine practice, he was constantly hearing from his clients how much a colleague’s chiropractic was helping their horses. So in 2006, Dr. Weber took the opportunity to travel to Germany to begin his own chiropractic journey. After 210 hours of intensive training, he earned his chiropractic certification with the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association (IVCA).

“Whether it’s a retired backyard pony or a Grand Prix event horse, my goal is to provide exceptional and compassionate chiropractic and dental care, in order to maximize the balance, comfort, and freedom of movement throughout the body of the horse. My mission is always the same: I simply want to make my patients healthier and happier.”
